Dr. Porter is a Treasure Valley native and graduated from Borah High School. He loves his home town and all the amazing people who call it home! He served a mission for his church in Southern Germany and Austria and speaks fluent German (Wunderbar!). He graduated top of his class from Brigham Young University with a 4.00 GPA in Physiology and Developmental Biology (and was the Ultimate Frisbee Champion!) After finishing at the top of his class (again!) at Creighton University Dental School, he completed an orthodontic residency in Richmond, Virginia (same residency as Dr. Payne!).
Dr. Porter was chosen and recognized by the American Association of Orthodontists as an Emerging Leader. He is also a member of the American Association of Orthodontists Practice Management Editorial Board. He has been taught by leaders in the field of orthodontic treatment using Invisalign. He has performed cutting edge scientific research on digital scanning technology that eliminates the need for traditional, uncomfortable, goopy dental impressions.
Outside the office, you are most likely to find Dr. Porter spending time with his family, exploring the outdoors, playing/watching baseball, or enjoying music. His wife Kortney and his two fun, and happy daughters are the light of his life. His daughters’ dance skills are off the chart – dance parties are a nightly occurrence at the Porter’s house! As a native of the Boise area he also enjoys rafting the amazing rivers in the area, mountain biking in the foothills, and visiting his happy place (McCall, ID). When he has a quiet moment he likes to compose piano music, attend concerts (bands and choir), or just listen to good music (so if you have any recommendations make sure you let him know)!
